[Webinar] The Bahamas Coral Innovation Hub

February 27 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

The Bahamas Coral Innovation Hub webinar 2025

Advancing Reef Restoration Through Science, Education, and Community

Join us for an exciting webinar about The Bahamas Coral Innovation Hub (BCIH), a teamwork-driven project by the Perry Institute for Marine Science, The Nature Conservancy, and The Island School. Located in Eleuthera, this facility is helping coral reefs recover in new and powerful ways.

Led by BCIH’s Project Manager, Natalia Hurtado, this webinar will explore how research, education, and outreach efforts are working together to grow and restore coral reefs, raise awareness, and make coral reefs stronger in the face of climate change and other threats.

What To Expect:

  • Growing More Coral: See how we use special fragmentation techniques to quickly increase coral populations.
  • Improving Coral Strength: Learn how larval propagation and early-stage research can help corals adapt and survive to diseases, ocean warming, and more.
  • Helping Reef Ecosystems: Find out how we are raising Diadema (long-spined sea urchins), which “landscape” the reefs by eating algae and giving corals more space to grow.
  • Working Together for Conservation: Meet the experts behind this innovative work and learn how our collaborative approach is making a difference for coral reefs.
