Jeremy Ward, PhD

Dr. Ward is a molecular geneticist from Middlebury College in Vermont. He attended Cornell University, majoring in cell biology and genetics and earned a Ph.D. at Weill Cornell Graduate School in Medical Sciences in cancer biology. Following post-doctoral work at The Jackson Laboratory focused on the genetics of mammalian meiosis and reproduction, he joined the faculty at Middlebury College. His current research interests include reproductive genetics and genetic diversity in animals (including coral), inclusive STEM education strategies, and the intersection of biotechnology and society. Most recently, the Ward laboratory has collaborated with colleagues at Middlebury, the Perry Institute for Marine Science, Shedd Aquarium, the Cape Eleuthera Institute, and the University of South Florida to study genetic diversity in reefs in the Bahamas. Dr. Ward, along with colleagues at Middlebury and PIMS, also recently developed the course BIOL0371 – Advanced Field Biology to bring undergraduates to the Bahamas to study and participate in reef conservation.
