Lee Stocking Island, Exuma, Bahamas
OFFICE ADMINISTRATION: Volunteers will work directly with management staff in supporting day-to-day office administration, operations and hospitality services at an international marine research center on Lee Stocking Island in the Bahamas. Volunteers will gain valuable work experience related to standard operating procedures, accounting and financial management, inventory and scheduling, and visitor services support. Volunteers will also have an opportunity to interact with marine scientists, local business officials, and other local community members.
REQUIREMENTS: Individuals with education and work experience in business administration, accounting/finance, and/or hospitality. Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with excellent computer and data entry skills including work with spreadsheets and databases. First aid/CPR certification is required prior to arrival on Lee Stocking Island.
Also preferred: experience with Quickbooks or related accounting software. Boating experience also a plus.

*This is a non-salaried volunteer position. Room (shared accommodations) and board and transportation will be provided.
DEVELOPMENT: General assistance with projects, development campaigns and databases relevant to the efficient and productive operation of the Florida Office. Other duties may be assigned as needed such as assisting in coordinating and attending organizational events.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be a self-starter and self-motivated. Excellent computer and writing skills. Must be reliable and responsible. Accurate typing ability and data entry.
Helpful skills include:Database experience (MS Access / MS Excel / MS Outlook) Administrative experience and computer literacy in a variety of Microsoft (MS Word, Publisher) and Adobe software (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator). Ability to handle multiple projects Graphics and design skills Advanced software (applications to include Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel)
Event Volunteer - help disperse PIMS literature at local events and help provide answers to questions to booth visitors while sharing general knowledge of our local marine ecosystems, research and education programs, and the history of PIMS. A passionate and outgoing personality is preferred.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Data Management of two file servers located in two different locations. Will be asked to locate duplicate files and combine data from both file servers. Database Management of various database applications, database for html graphics.
REQUIREMENTS:Excellent computer and writing skills. Must be reliable and responsible. Accurate typing ability and data entry.
Helpful skills (though not necessary) include: MS Access and/or SQL, Data management, Html
DRIVER: We are often in need of drivers to transport goods from the Jupiter office to our airport hangar or barge in Fort Lauderdale.
REQUIREMENTS: valid drivers license
Hours are anytime Monday- Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays for special events.
